FWPD: Homicide Investigation, 4600 block Werling Drive

On October 22, 2020, at 2319 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4600 block of Werling Drive in response to unknown problem.

Time: 2319 hours

Details/Summary:

Officers were called to 4600 Werling Dr for an unknown problem. Upon arrival to that area Officers found a male adult in the street. He was suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wound(s). Officers were told that several callers called for a man in the street and reported hearing gun shots just prior to seeing the man. Medics arrived and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

Homicide, Crime Scene and ASU Units were called to the scene for the investigation. They will be interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to help determine what occurred. The identity of the male will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Detective Bureau 260-427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-STOP.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
