Details/Summary:
On Sunday, 09/27/2020, at approximately 1:11 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of West Jefferson Blvd. and Catalpa Street reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Dispatch received several calls indicating the crash involved a Dodge Charger and Chevy Equinox. Officers arrived on scene and determined there were three occupants in each vehicle. All six occupants had varying degrees of injuries and were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. Physicians advised one occupant in the Charger and two occupants in the Equinox were suffering life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary information indicates the Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Jefferson Blvd. and the Chevy Equinox was traveling westbound on Jefferson Blvd. The Charger crossed the centerline and struck the Equinox.
Investigators confirmed alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash on behalf of the driver of the Dodge Charger. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Jefferson Blvd. is closed to all traffic between Lindenwood Avenue and Main Street while investigators process the scene.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
