On September 15, 2020, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Valdosta Drive in reference to a domestic battery.

Details/Summary:
Officers were initially called to the 700 block of Valdosta Dr in reference to a domestic battery that had just occurred. Upon investigation into the situation it was found that there had been a battery between a father and son. The son was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were non-life threatening but serious. There was a report of a gun being involved in the incident. Officers attempted to make contact several times but were unsuccessful.
Hostage Negotiators, Emergency Services and Air Support Units were called to the scene to assist in the situation. They continued to loud hail the subject over loudspeaker in an attempt to get him to surrender. He failed to acknowledge the calls or hails from officers. A warrant was granted for the suspect’s arrest. At that point EST deployed chemical agent into the home and immediately the suspect surrendered to officers. A gun was recovered at the scene but it’s use in the incident is not known. Lawless will be booked into Allen County Lockup for that above charges.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
