FWPD: Structure Fire, 1629 Beach Street

On August 29, 2020, at 1228 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was again dispatched to extinguish a lithium battery fire at 1629 Beach Street, Fort Wayne Indiana.

On Scene: 1231 hours
Under Control: 1250 hours

On arrival firefighters found lithium batteries burning in the parking lot of this address. The batteries were involved in a fire yesterday and were awaiting proper disposal. Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 20 minutes and then ensured that the runoff from the fire was contained. The batteries were covered with sand to prevent further ignition and will be removed by a contractor to be properly disposed of. There were no injuries reported at the time of the fire.
