On August 28, 2020, at 0410 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Ridgewood Drive in reference to gunshots in the area.

Fatal Shooting Investigation

On Friday, 08/28/2020, at approximately 4:10 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Ridgewood Drive reference gunshots being fired in the area. The caller informed dispatch they heard approximately five gunshots. While canvassing the area, officers located a male victim lying near the 1000 block of Ridgewood Drive. Officers observed the victim was suffering from several apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
