Fatal Shooting Investigation

Victim: Female Adult / Deceased
On Sunday, 08/09/2020, at approximately 4:09 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Rodeway Inn located at 2920 Goshen Road reference an unknown problem. A caller informed dispatch a female was bleeding and lying on the ground outside of a room on the second floor. Additional callers reported the female had been shot. Officers arrived and observed the female adult victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound (s). Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Detectives are going door to door speaking with motel guests and reviewing surveillance video. In addition, several witnesses are being interviewed. Detectives hope to obtain suspect information once those interviews are concluded. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
