On June 30, 2020, at 1952 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident involving an SUV and motorcycle in the 1300 block of West Washington Center Road.

Details/Summary:
Shortly before 8:00 Pm on June 30, 2020 in the 1330 Block of West Washington Center Road the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a reported Motor Vehicle Accident involving an SUV and a Motorcycle.
Upon Officers arrival on scene they located an adult male laying on the ground by the Motorcycle suffering from multiple injuries. Paramedics and Fort Wayne Fire Department Personnel arrived on scene assumed medical care of the victim. The Victim was initially listed as having Non-Life Threatening Injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Initial Information indicates that the SUV was driving West on Washington Center and the Motorcycle was heading East on Washington Center. The driver of the SUV was trying to turn South into a parking lot and as the SUV was attempting to turn into the parking lot into turned into the path of the Motorcycle and the 2 vehicles collided.
A short time later after the Victim arrived at the hospital Emergency Room Physicians downgraded the victim to now having Life Threatening Injuries.
At this time the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Investigators along with the Fort Wayne Police Air Support Unit were paged to the scene to investigate this accident, and determine the sequence of events that led up to this accident and look for any contributing factors that may have led too this accident as well.
During this investigation a short section of Eastbound Washington Center was closed however Officers were able to direct traffic into the middle lanes and keep traffic moving.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Assisting in this investigation was the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
