Fort Wayne Police Department incident report:
Protest Day 7
Date: June 4, 2020
Location: downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana
Time: 1400 hours to 2300 hours
Details/Summary:
Day 7 of downtown protests were once again peaceful. A UNITY March began at the courthouse at 4:00 pm today involving approximately 200 people. Amongst the marchers were Mayor Tom Henry, Fort Wayne Police Department Chief Steve Reed and Allen County Sheriff David Gladeaux. The march proceeded north on Clinton Street from Main and stopped on the north end of the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge. Speeches were made by members of the community, the Mayor, Chief Reed and Sheriff Gladeaux. The march members then walked south, back to the courthouse lawn where many thought provoking conversations continued between officers and community members for several hours. We are grateful for this meaningful progress and are hopeful this community collaboration will continue. After the march, approximately 100 protesters gathered on the courthouse lawn throughout the evening. They were peaceful and no arrests were made. Once again the Fort Wayne Police Department would like to thank our community members for peacefully protesting.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
All information is preliminary and subject to change during the course of the investigation.
