FWFD: Water Rescue, Fairfield and Gerke Avenues

On May 31, 2020, at 1953 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department’s Water Rescue and Recovery Team was dispatched to the area of Fairfield and Gerke Avenues on the report of a person falling into the St. Marys River.

Time of Alarm: 1953 hours
On Scene: 1958 hours
Under Control: 2010 hours

The first units to arrive started water rescue operations. Crews launched a raft into the river and were able to locate and remove the adult victim in 12 minutes. The Three Rivers Ambulance Authority transported the patient to a local hospital.

Assisting the Fort Wayne Fire Department: the Fort Wayne Police Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
