On February 24, 2020, at 1058 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the Tall Oaks Apartments in the 7300 block of Decatur Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Time of Alarm: 1058 hours
On Scene: 1100 hours
Under Control: 1130 hours
The first unit arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing from a fourth-floor balcony. The fire was coded a 706, second alarm fire, due to the amount of occupants inside the building and size and challenges with that type of building. Heavy fire was found in an apartment on the fourth-floor and crews made entry and extinguished fire. Significant smoke was in hallways on multiple floors and crews worked to make sure occupants either were evacuated or protected in place with their apartment doors shut. Crews also worked to clear the building of smoke. The fire was brought under control and is currently under investigation.
