‘Caps Fall to ‘Kings in Road Series Opener
Clinton, Iowa (July 13, 2019) – The TinCaps lost the opener of their three-game series against the Clinton LumberKings (Miami Marlins affiliate), 5-4, on Saturday night in a back-and-forth contest.
Clinton (15-7, 48-43) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase a two-run deficit and take the lead for good. The LumberKings had initially taken a 1-0 lead in the first. But from there, Fort Wayne set the pace until the seventh.
The TinCaps (7-15, 40-50) tied the game in the second and took a 2-1 lead on a go-ahead, RBI single by right fielder Agustin Ruiz.
After Clinton leveled the score, 2-2 in the fourth, the ‘Caps retook the lead in the fifth as designated hitter Michael Curry ripped a two-run single to make it 4-2.
