Death Investigation

Details:
On Tuesday, 03/26/2019, at approximately 10:31 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4400 block of Smith Street reference a shooting. Dispatch received a call indicating a subject had been shot. Additional calls reported several citizens heard gunshots being fired in the area. Officers arrived and located a male/adult victim inside a residence. The victim was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Preliminary information indicates the victim was inside the residence and gunshots were fired from outside the residence. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses that were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death. There are no additional details regarding this investigation at this time.
