On March 6, 2019, at 1117 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 1800 block of Woodhaven Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Under Control: 1131 hours
FWFD Engine 5 arrived in 2 minutes and found smoke coming from a first-floor apartment with several people on second-floor balconies needing rescued. Several other fire units arrived and assisted with fire attack and removing the people from balconies. The building was searched and a dog was found alive in a second floor apartment and turned over to animal control. The occupant of the apartment was alerted by smoke detectors and was able to escape prior to the department’s arrival. The fire was under control in 12 minutes.
