
On January 2, 2019, at 1405 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 7800 block of Knightswood Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Under Control: 1418 hours
A number of callers, including one driving down Airport Expressway dialed 9-1-1 to report flames and smoke from the upper portion of a Waynedale home. Firefighters arrived four minutes later and reported an attic fire. The fire was contained to the attic and the chimney. The fire was under control 13 minutes after dispatch.
The cause of the fire was a build up of birds nests in and around the chimney. It caused only minor damage to the attic/roof area.
One occupant and a pet self-evacuated when neighbors knocked on the door.
