Child Struck By Vehicle
Date/Time of Incident: 10/04/2016 @ 7:04 PM
Location of Incident: 4300 block of Marquette Drive
Victim: 5 Year Old Male (Serious Condition)
(October 4, 2016) – On Tuesday October 4, 2016 at approximately 7:04 PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4300 block of Marquette Drive in reference to a 5 year old child that had been struck by a vehicle. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, paramedics provided medical attention to the child before transporting him to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
Investigators advised that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Marquette Drive as the child entered into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene where it was located within minutes by officers a short distance from the scene. Officers apprehended the driver of the vehicle where the vehicle was stopped. Investigators believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T team, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
