News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
(June 22, 2016) – Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the reported two vehicle accident with injuries in the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and N. Glendale Drive at 5:00 p.m. this evening. Once on scene they observed to passenger cars both with heavy damage. In one vehicle the two occupants required extrication by fire personnel. The front seated passenger in that vehicle, an elderly female was unresponsive. She was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The driver of that vehicle refused medical treatment. The sole occupant of the other vehicle, a 17-year old male also refused treatment and transport to a hospital.
Witness accounts indicated that the vehicle containing the two occupants attempted to make a left hand turn, northbound, onto North Glendale Drive from West Jefferson Boulevard and in doing so turned directly into the path of the 17-year old’s westbound vehicle. It does not appear that impairment will play a role in this crash.
This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
