IPFW Professor Organizes Candlelight Vigil For Orlando
(June 13, 2016) — The Department of Public Policy at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is sponsoring a candlelight vigil to honor and remember the victims of the tragic weekend shooting in Orlando.
The vigil will take place at Swinney Park West, 1600 West Jefferson Boulevard, on Wednesday, June 15, starting at 8:45 p.m.
“We want to show the city of Orlando and all of the survivors of the mass shooting on June 12 that the people of Fort Wayne support them,” said Rachel Rayburn, assistant professor of public policy and vigil organizer. “This is our opportunity to stand against the hatred and discrimination that affects the LGBTQ community.”
The event is free and all community members are invited.
Those who wish to attend are encouraged to bring candles, red plastic cups, and/or flowers.
