Critical Shooting Investigation

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 10:54 PM, officers with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to multiple reports of gun shots in the area of 3200 block of Winter Street. Several callers reported hearing multiple gun shots, and then reported a vehicle had struck a house in the 3200 block of Winter Street. Officers arrived and located shell casings in the street of the 3100 and 3200 blocks of Winter Street, and found a vehicle that had indeed struck a house in this same area. There were no persons on scene, but officers found blood in the vehicle, so they began searching the area and requested the help of a police K9 dog to help search for any victims.
While searching, officers were notified that a juvenile male was dropped off at a local hospital suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. This male was taken by a private vehicle. The male was first determined to be in serious condition, but was later downgraded to critical condition by hospital staff.
Preliminary information indicates that an argument ensued in the 3100 block of Winter Street, which led to shots being fired. At this time, it is unknown where exactly the victim was when he was struck, and investigators are still trying to determine what caused the vehicle to strike the house. It is unknown if the victim was in this vehicle, or what role the vehicle has. There were no other injuries as a result of the vehicle striking the house.
Detectives are canvassing the area, searching for and speaking with witnesses. Crime scene units are searching for and collecting evidence. More information will be gathered when detectives are able to speak with the victim. There is no suspect information at this time.
