Fatal Shooting Investigation

Victim: Adult Male / Deceased
Details:
On Sunday, 5/8/2016, at approximately 9:51 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 3700 block of Maywood Avenue reference an unknown problem. A female called dispatch and was crying hysterically. She provided the address and hung up. Officers arrived on scene and made entry into the residence where they located a male/adult victim. The victim was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
Initial information indicates a family member was concerned because she was unable to make contact with the victim. She went to his residence this morning to check on his well-being.
Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with neighbors. Detectives will interview family members in an attempt to determine a timeline for the last time someone had contact with the victim. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence. There is no suspect information to provide at this time. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
