Critical Shooting Investigation

Date: 5/7/2016

Time: 11:10 p.m.

Location: 3730 East Washington Boulevard, the Hallmark Inn

Victim: Adult Male, Critical Condition

Details:

On Saturday, 5/7/2016, at 11:10 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 3730 East Washington Boulevard, the Hallmark Inn, reference a shooting. A female called dispatch and advised her boyfriend had been shot. The female hung up and did not provide any additional information. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate a victim. They did locate blood evidence that was consistent with someone being injured.

At approximately 11:23 PM, a local hospital contacted dispatch and advised a victim arrived at the emergency room suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). A physician determined the victim was in critical condition and he was immediately transported to another local hospital for treatment. Officers responded to the hospital and made contact with the individual that provided the victim transportation to the emergency room. That individual is currently being interviewed by detectives.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting occurred inside one of the hotel rooms at the Hallmark Inn. Detectives hope to gather more information once they are able to interview potential witnesses. Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence.
