News release from the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership:
#NEIpride photo contest winners announced
(March 21, 2016) – The Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, through the Millennial Leaders Alliance (MLA), announced today the winners of the #NEIpride Instagram photo contest. Northeast Indiana Millennials (roughly ages 17-29) submitted 175 photos on Instagram showcasing why they are proud to call Northeast Indiana their home during the winter season.
“The photo contest proved what everyone that lives here already knows – this is one of the best places to live in the country. It was inspiring to see the devotion our residents have to the communities within the region, and how social media was leveraged to highlight our region’s authentic spirit,” said Brett Gauger, a member of the Millennial Leaders Alliance.
The MLA picked the Top 3 photos. First place won a $50 Indiana State Park Pass, second place won a $40 gift certificate to Oak and Alley in Warsaw and third place won four tickets to the TinCaps opening game on April 9.
“Attracting and retaining talent in Northeast Indiana is essential to our Road to One Million plan to grow our population. The photo contest shows people outside the region what it’s like to live in our beautiful area and hopefully will attract them to the Fort Wayne area,” said Sonya Snellenberger, Millennial Leaders Alliance Specialist at the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership. The winning photo by resident Kristyn Steele revealed two men ice fishing on a frozen lake with the sun glowing behind a tree line.
“That photo was taken at Appleman Lake in Lagrange County which is just down the road from our house. It’s a place I go often to try to catch those early-morning sunrises. I find getting outside alone and trying to capture nature very relaxing and peaceful. We live in such a busy world and we are on the go all the time, it is my escape,” said Steele.
