News release from the Embassy Theatre:
$10 million renovation unveiled at the Embassy
(February 22, 2016) – The Embassy Theatre will throw open its doors in March to its donors, members and volunteers and the community to celebrate the completion of Vision for the Embassy, a $10 million and nearly two-year construction project.
Open houses, presented by Weigand Construction, are scheduled throughout March. Media are invited to the donor celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 9, with a program taking place in the new ballroom at 6 p.m. The community open house, to which the public is invited, will be March 30 from 2 to 7 p.m.
Completed renovations to the former Indiana Hotel include a rooftop patio, two-story ballroom, rehearsal and classroom spaces and administrative offices. Other renovations to the historic facility include a mezzanine lounge, theater bars and concessions, heritage center, new dressing rooms and an updated box office.
A nonprofit organization that preserves and protects the historic facility through excellent programming and events, the Embassy is accepting rentals for the new spaces in addition to its stage and theater lobby. Rental of new spaces began in December 2015 with the just-completed mezzanine lounge while ballroom rentals have been secured through 2016 and into 2017.
To continue celebrating the Vision project completion, the Embassy will host a Celebration Ball & Concert featuring The Avett Brothers on April 19. The evening will feature a dinner and live auction in the Ballroom at the Embassy and The Avett Brothers concert on the Embassy stage. Tickets are on sale now.
