Fatal Vehicle Crash

On Sunday, January 31, 2016, at approximately 12:20AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to pedestrian struck near the intersection of S. Anthony Blvd and E. Hollis Ln. Officers arrived and located an adult male down in the roadway on S. Anthony Blvd. Officers immediately began performing CPR until medics arrived, who determined the male to be in critical condition. The male was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Initial reports indicate the adult male was crossing the roadway, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on S. Anthony Blvd. This vehicle did not stop, but instead fled the scene, leaving the victim in the roadway. None of the 911 callers were able to provide a description of the vehicle, only reporting that a male had been struck.
There were no other reported injuries. Crash Investigators are presently collecting evidence and processing the crash scene, as well as searching for and speaking with any witnesses. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information is asked to contact police.
S Anthony Blvd remained closed between Ventura Ln and Gladstone Dr. for the duration of the investigation.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the driver along with the cause and manner of death. There are no additional details regarding this investigation at this time.
