FWCS Lottery to be held Wednesday

(January 19, 2016) – The Fort Wayne Community Schools lottery for all grade levels will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Grile Administrative Center, 1200 S. Clinton St. The lottery is for those who applied to a magnet school, high school Program of Study or a school other than a child’s geographically assigned school.

The elementary lottery begins at 9 a.m. in the Grile Boardroom with the middle and high school lottery taking place at 1 p.m. The lotteries are open to the public. Parents wanting to find out their children’s status can do so immediately after the lottery. Photo identification will be required.

FWCS allows parents to submit school assignment applications for their children if they want to attend a school other than the one to which they are assigned based on their home address. Applications were due Friday, Dec. 18. If there are more applications than spots available at any grade level and at any school, a lottery is held to determine placement.

Parents unable to attend the lottery will receive a letter by the end of the month with the results. Parents may also get the information in person from Student and Family Support Services at Grile during normal business hours. A photo ID will be required. Information will not be given out over the phone.
