Critical Injury Pedestrian Struck

Time: 12:20 p.m.
Location: Calhoun Street at McKinnie Avenue
Victim: Adult Female/Critical Condition
Details:
Fort Wayne police responded to the intersection of Calhoun Street and McKinnie Avenue on the report of a pedestrian being struck by a van. On arrival officers observed the female victim down and unresponsive suffering multiply traumatic injuries. The victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital where she was determined to be in critical condition.
Preliminary investigative findings suggest that the victim was crossing Calhoun Street from the east when a southbound van struck the victim. Investigators are presently documenting the scene and interviewing the driver of the van. Unknown if alcohol and/or drugs will play a role in this accident at this time.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.
