News release from Artlink:
Magnificent Maps, 7th Annual Postcard Show & Sale, and Watercolors by John C. Kelty to Exhibit at Artlink
(December 17, 2015) – Artlink will kick off its 2016 Exhibition programming with three new exhibitions: Magnificent Maps, the 7th Annual Postcard Show & Sale, and Watercolors by John C. Kelty. The opening reception for this set of exhibition is Friday, January 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. with an Artists’ Talk beginning at 6:45 p.m. All exhibitions run through March 2, 2016.
In Artlink’s main gallery, Magnificent Maps will display the results of a national open call, all-media exhibit depicting real and fictitious maps. Artists from as far away as Oregon and Texas have submitted work to this show, as well as several northeast Indiana artists. In the Freistoffer Gallery, Artlink will also host the 7th Annual Postcard Show & Sale, a collection of original artwork in any medium on postcards that were mailed to Artlink from all over the world. The postcards are a donation to Artlink and available for sale at the opening reception and throughout the exhibit as a fundraiser. Heading into its 7th year, this exhibit and event has become a crowd pleaser and raises much-needed funds for programming at Artlink. In addition to Magnificent Maps and the 7th Annual Postcard Show, Artlink will exhibit watercolors by artist member John C. Kelty in the Betty Fishman Gallery.
“We are excited to bring this diverse set of exhibitions to our community,” says Amber Foster, Executive Director of Artlink. “When the Artist Panel initially conceptualized the Magnificent Maps exhibit, we did not expect the nation-wide response to be so impressive. This exhibit will bring artists to Fort Wayne that our community has never seen. Of course, we always enjoy hosting the Postcard Show & Sale. Community members may purchase postcard art for $10 and all proceeds benefit our programs.”
Artlink’s gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Auer Center is currently under construction and parking is available free across the street behind the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Parking meters are free after hours and on weekends.
