Three Vehicle Traffic Crash Leaves One Person Deceased on I-469
(December 11, 2015) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a three vehicle crash that occurred on I-469 between U.S. 37 and Maplecrest Road. At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, a semi was northbound on I-469 between Maplecrest Road and U.S. 37 when it crashed into the back of a second semi and caught on fire. The driver of the first semi was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi that was struck from behind was uninjured. A van was also struck during the crash, and the female driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. At the time of the crash, northbound traffic was slowed in that area due to an earlier semi crash at the 29.6 mile marker. Each vehicle was occupied by one person and the crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
