Warriors handle Spartans in Michigan-Dearborn Great Lakes Showcase opener

DEARBORN, Mich (November 27, 2015) – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men’s ice hockey team defeated Division 3 Michigan State, 10-0, in its first game of the Michigan-Dearborn Great Lakes Showcase at the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.

Jarrett Pfeiffer and Ryan Theisen provided five of the Warriors goals, with Pfeiffer recording a hat trick and two assists while Theisen added two goals and an assist. Jace Childs dished out five assists and added a goal for a team-leading six points.

The Warriors got out to a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes as they scored all three in the final five minutes of the period. Tech would then explode for five goals in the second period, with Pfeiffer recording two of his. The Orange and Black would then add two more goals in the final period of play while Zach Larson made 29 saves to record his second shutout of the year.

Tech would fire off 46 shots and played excellent special teams, not allowing a Spartans goal in five chances while converting one of their two power plays.

Tech (10-7-0-1-0) returns to the ice tomorrow as they take on Central Michigan in the second game of the Great Lakes Showcase. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. from UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
