News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House Fire, 974 Oaklawn Court
(November 14, 2015) – The Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to a reported apartment fire at 974 Oaklawn Court. Upon arrival firefighters found fire in a up stairs bedroom. The first fire units arrived in 3 minutes and made an aggressive interior attack on the fire. The fire extended into the attic area of the apartment and caused some damage to the attic area and bedrooms of the apartment next door.
The residence of that apartment 3 adults and 2 children self evacuated as the fire dept. arrived. This fire was placed under control in 23 minutes with lots of overhaul to do. There was heavy fire damage to the bedroom in Apt. 974 with moderate water and smoke damage though out. In Apt. 976 had moderate fire, water, smoke damage mostly up stairs.
No injuries were reported and this fire remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was N.E.C., TRAA, FWPD, NIPSCO, AEP. Red Cross was called for the 1 adult and 5 children.
