News release from INDOT:
Touch Our Truck at Home Depot on Saturday
INDOT, other first responders to take part in Home Depot safety event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
(October 1, 2015) – Kids and adults will have a chance to get up close and personal with one of the Indiana Department of Transportation’s plow trucks on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Home Depot, 6235 Lima Road in Fort Wayne, as part of the retailer’s annual Home and Fire Safety event.
“The whole day is designed to teach the children the importance of safety, whether home, fire or otherwise. We want kids to know how to be safe,” said event coordinator Kellie Gray. “October is Fire Safety Month, so an event like this is a great way to kick off the month.”
In addition to INDOT’s plow truck, several first responders will have vehicles on display. Gray said children will have the opportunity to sit inside the vehicles and talk to the first responders about ways to stay safe.
The day also will include a workshop for kids ages 3-12 to build a wooden fire truck; free pony rides from Dare to Dream Youth Ranch; face painting; free hot dogs and more.
