News release from Trinity English Lutheran Church:
Trinity English Lutheran Church packed more than 28,000 meals for Kids Against Hunger
(September 18, 2015) – Trinity English packaged more than 28,000 meals to help feed hungry children around the world. Partnering with Kids Against Hunger, two-thirds of the meals packed will be used to help children in one of 60 countries where there is a need. One-third will remain in the United States.
Around 125 volunteers assembled the food ingredients following specific hygiene and food packaging standards. The meals were then weighed, sealed in bags and boxed up. A total of $4,000 of the needed $7,000 has already been raised by parishioners for the supplies needed and Thrivent Financial matched donations.
“God calls us to share the love and spirit of Christ with the community both inside and outside of these walls,” said Rev. Dr. Gary Erdos, Senior Pastor of Trinity English Lutheran Church. “The work to which he calls us can never be done alone. God’s work can only be done hand in hand with God and hand in hand with one another.”
In the past two years, Trinity English members have packed and funded more than 46,000 meals through Kids Against Hunger. Through Kids Against Hunger, a donation of 25 cents provides a child with a vitamin-rich meal designed to help them thrive. A donation of $91 provides food for one child for a whole year.
