Nutter Named 2015 Midwest League Executive of the Year
TinCaps President Wins Honor for Third Time

(September 17, 2015) — TinCaps President Mike Nutter is the 2015 Midwest League Executive of the Year, the Midwest League announced Thursday.

The award, which is voted on by the leaders of the 16 teams in the league, is presented annually to an individual who has had a successful season in the areas of leadership, attendance accomplishments, marketing initiatives, promotions, stadium projects/enhancements, game day and non-game day events, community/charity involvement, and overall baseball operations.

“This award is shared with all on our staff at Parkview Field,” Nutter said. “I’m honored to serve with everyone in our front office. Considering how the Midwest League is full of so many great executives, this is certainly a rewarding recognition. I thank those who voted for me.”

Nutter also won Midwest League Executive of the Year in 2004 and 2009. This makes him just the second person in league history to receive the honor three times or more, and the first to do so since Ed Holtz of the Fox Cities/Appleton Foxes (now Wisconsin Timber Rattlers) won the award five times from 1966-71.

“I believe we have the best group of executives in all of Minor League Baseball,” said Dick Nussbaum, Midwest League President. “For Mike to win this award again is a testament to how well-respected and liked he is by his peers. Mike is a first-class leader whose work ethic stands out along with his commitment to his community.”

Under Nutter’s leadership, Fort Wayne set multiple franchise attendance records in 2015. The TinCaps, in their seventh season at Parkview Field, averaged more fans per game for a season (5,971) than ever before and had their most fans ever for a single game (9,193) on the Fourth of July.

This season the TinCaps were the lone Midwest League team nominated for Minor League Baseball’s John Henry Moss Community Service Award, which will be announced at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville on Dec. 7.

Nutter, 42, has been working in Minor League Baseball since 1992. He has spent the last 16 seasons in Fort Wayne, and the last 15 as team president. A married father of two, Nutter volunteers his time with a number of local organizations, such as Erin’s House for Grieving Children, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Greater Fort Wayne, Inc., and Visit Fort Wayne.
