Event will help individuals learn more on how to get connected to good jobs
(September 10, 2015) – Mayor Tom Henry and local education and employer partners today announced details for the first Education-Employer Forum to be held in the City of Fort Wayne.
The forum will take place from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept, 17 at the Public Safety Academy: Ivy Tech South Campus, 7602 Patriot Crossing. The forum is free and open to the public.
The event is designed to assist individuals with obtaining information and input from local educators and employers on how to get connected to good jobs in the community.
Through panel discussions, roundtables, and information booths, areas of focus will include apprenticeships, certification, financial aid, expungement, education opportunities and family resources.
“Although unemployment is down and we’re experiencing positive momentum in Fort Wayne, we know there are people in our community who are having a difficult time finding a job,” said Mayor Henry. “We must be willing to address this challenge to ensure all residents have a chance to succeed. Partnerships with our local colleges and universities and employers can improve residents’ lives and well-being. By investing in our future, we’ll enhance our ability to provide opportunities for successful jobs.”
Forum partners include Greater Fort Wayne Inc., IPFW, Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast, Manchester University, Northeast Indiana Building Trades, and Northeast Indiana Works.
