News release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department:
Sheriff’s Department hiring four veteran police officers
(September 8, 2015) – On Tuesday, September 8th, 2015 the Allen County Sheriff’s Department will be hiring four veteran police officers from surrounding police departments as Allen County Police Officers.
Sheriff Gladieux opened this hiring process to individuals that are already trained and working as law enforcement officers. The process known as “lateral transfers” has several benefits to the department. Such as, the new officers are already trained and ready for duty on day one. The department gains the officers’ knowledge and skills acquired from years of prior service. Additionally, there is no added cost of sending the new recruits to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy for the state mandated 16 weeks of training.
The new officers are:
- Dorian Finley, 20 year veteran with the South Bend Police Department
- Jason Bohde, 21 year veteran with the New Haven Police Department
- Kristen Lewis, seven year veteran with the New Haven Police Department
- Sieng Xayyachack, six year veteran with the Bluffton Police Department
A fifth officer, Bret Gage, three year veteran of the Garrett Police Department, will be sworn on September 28th 2015.
Prior to being hired, all of the officers go through our pre-employment screening process, including a high tech, intensive background investigation which Sheriff Gladieux implemented when he took office in January 2015.
