Game recap from the TinCaps:
Luis Tejada shines in TinCaps loss
Despite Luis Tejada’s three-hit night, Fort Wayne fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-2, on Sunday night.
A crowd of 6,737 made it out to Parkview Field, the 24th sellout of the season.
Tejada drove in the home team’s first run in the bottom of the fourth off of Bowling Green starter Yonny Chirinos (W, 4-5), but Fort Wayne (44-25, 76-61) was already in a 2-0 hole. The Hot Rods plated runs in the second and third frames to take a quick lead. Those were the only runs Jose Castillo allowed over his five innings of work.
In the fifth inning, the TinCaps tied it up. Josh VanMeter stroked a two-out single into right field and moved over to third base after Ruddy Giron smacked a base hit. VanMeter then scored on a Bowling Green (32-35, 69-68) wild pitch.
But the Hot Rods added a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to go up, 5-2.
Fort Wayne concludes its regular season on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Manager Francisco Morales calls on righty Pete Kelich (2-2, 2.88) to face Bowling Green right-hander Brad Wallace (2-5, 4.60).
