News release from Science Central:
Science Central seeks additional volunteers for new school year
(September 3, 2015) – Science Central is seeking additional volunteers to help staff with daily operations of the center. Volunteering at Science Central is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get involved with one of the region’s leading cultural attractions. Benefits of volunteering include a variety of resume building skills such as public speaking and interpersonal communication, time management, and many more.
Volunteer opportunities include running exhibits such as the High-Rail Bike, Moon Walk, Giant Slide, Tidal Pool and Swap Shop. They might also assist with administrative tasks, grounds keeping or exhibit construction and maintenance.
Additionally, there are opportunities for individuals with unique skills to get involved. Science Central is always in need of help from individuals with backgrounds in areas such as carpentry, construction, photography, web design, IT, science and engineering, etc. There is also room on planning committees for professionals interested in helping with upcoming fundraisers and events.
This coming Fall, Science Central also has a special need for volunteers ages 21 and over. Volunteers in this age group will be needed to help support two of the center’s adult-oriented Fall events, Mixology: Shaken Not Stirred, and Soulless Science: The Quest for Patient Zero. Anyone interested in volunteering should visit www.sciencecentral.org or contact Richard Yates, Volunteer and Visitor Services Manager at 260-424-2400 ext. 421 or Richard@sciencecentral.org.
