Critical Shooting Investigation, Bowser Avenue and Baxter Street

On Friday, August 21, 2015, at 8:17pm, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Bowser Ave and Baxter St on reports of a male shot. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male near this intersection suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in serious condition, where he was downgraded to critical condition by hospital physicians.
Initial information indicates there was an exchange of gunfire between at least two people near this intersection, which resulted in the adult male being shot. It is currently unknown if there were just two shooters, or if more people were involved. It is also unknown what led to the shooting, but detectives are exploring the possibility of gang involvement.
There are no suspects or suspect descriptions. However, detectives have identified a vehicle of interest, a silver or gray Monte Carlo, two door, with shiny rims and tinted windows. This vehicle was seen leaving the area, and anyone with any information on this vehicle is asked to call police.
No other injuries have been reported. Numerous shell casings were recovered, and Crime Scene Technicians are currently processing the scene and collecting evidence. Detectives are canvassing the area and speaking with witnesses, and hope to gather more information regarding this investigation once they are able to interview the victim. No arrests have been made. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
