News release from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority:

Cell phone lot opens at Fort Wayne International Airport

(August 6, 2015) – A cell phone lot is now open at Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA), allowing quick and convenient passenger pick-up from the terminal. The cell phone lot was created due to the airport’s recent traffic growth and resulting curbside congestion during heavy travel periods.

“We identified a problem at the curb when vehicles were double and triple parked waiting to pick up passengers, creating not only a headache for those picking up but an obvious safety concern,” said Joe Marana, Director of Operations and Facilities for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. “The new cell phone lot is intended to reduce that congestion and make pick-ups easier than ever.”

Guests may park in the lot until they are alerted of a passenger’s arrival, they may then exit the lot and drive around to the terminal entrance to meet the passenger at the curb. Passengers may also walk to the cell phone lot easily from the terminal to be picked up. The cell phone lot is located on the east end of the terminal building, near the new taxi chute at the baggage claim exit.

Use of the cell phone lot is free but vehicles must be attended at all times. Guests may not leave their vehicle to enter the terminal. Violators will be ticketed and/or towed. Guests are reminded that the first 30 minutes are free in FWA’s short term parking lot.
