News release from the Allen County SPCA:

Allen County SPCA receives $5,000 grant to fund outreach from PetSmart, Inc.

(July 29, 2015) – Officials from PetSmart, Inc. will present the Allen County SPCA with a donation totaling $5,000 to support the nonprofit shelter’s work in underserved areas in the community. The check presentation will take place on Thursay July 30 at 10 a.m. at the Allen County SPCA at 4914 S. Hanna Street at the corner of Hanna and Pettit Avenue.

The Allen County SPCA, which has been helping local animals for 65 years, recently has expanded its services to help pet parents in underserved communities with access to basic pet care and supplies. “The hope is that pet parents will be able to focus more on keeping their animals at home than surrendering them to shelters,” said Allen County SPCA executive director, Jessica Henry.

“Nothing brings us greater joy than seeing pets in forever homes, whether they’re adopted or already-owned. Keeping loved animals at home where they belong is just as important as finding families for homeless pets,” Henry continued. “We are grateful for PetSmart’s generous support of this program.”

PetSmart will provide this charitable donation through its PetSmart Gives Back initiative. This initiative focuses on giving back to local communities throughout the nation in support of organizations that enrich people’s lives through the power of pets.

“At PetSmart, we know how important pets are to the family,” said Kristen Roberts, district manager for PetSmart. “We’re proud to partner with the Allen Country SPCA in an effort to help keep more pets with their forever home.”
