Armed Robbery Investigation
Date/Time of Incident: 7/21/2015 at 7:42 a.m.
Location of Incident: 5800 Coldwater Road (Doc Rickers)

Arrested: Andrew B Nichols, 44 years old
Charges: Armed Robbery, Criminal Reckless
On Tuesday July 21, 2015 at approximately 7:42 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Doc Rickers located in the 5800 block of Coldwater Road in reference to an armed robbery investigation. As officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with a female victim and witnesses who advised that as the female came out of the gas station, she observed a male getting out of her vehicle carrying her purse that had been inside her vehicle. The female approached the male in an attempt to get her purse back as the male struck her in the head with a gun. The suspect pointed the handgun at the female and witnesses before getting into a vehicle and leaving the scene southbound on Coldwater Road.
Witnesses and the female victim were able to provide officers with a detailed description of the suspect as well as the vehicle. A short time later, officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near downtown. Officers conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was positively identified as the suspect and was later arrested and transported to the Allen County Lockup. The female victim was medically treated for a minor injury to her head.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
