News release from Indiana Michigan Power:

Indiana Michigan Power prepared to respond to outages

(June 22, 2015) – A severe line of storms has been forecast to move into Indiana Michigan Power’s service area this afternoon and into tonight. Wind gusts of up to 80mph are predicted to move through Southwest Michigan and the South Bend/Elkhart areas with scattered storms spreading south to the Fort Wayne area this afternoon. In addition, a broken line of storms with damaging winds and a possible squall line is predicted to move through tonight, stretching from Northern Michigan down to Indianapolis.

AEP meteorologists are keeping a close eye on the movement of the storms and we are prepared to mobilize personnel and respond in the event of power outages.

While we cannot predict the extent of damage these storms will have on utility equipment, winds of great speed can break tree branches, take down power lines, uproot trees and even snap utility poles.

I&M customers should prepare for extended outages and can find tips do so under the Outages & Problems section of IndianaMichiganPower.com.
