News release from Greater Fort Wayne, Inc.:

Workplace Wellness Discussion Hosted by YMCA and GFW Inc

(June 3, 2015) – Greater Fort Wayne Inc. and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne will host a Free Workplace Wellness discussion from 8:00 AM till 9:00 AM on June 17, 2015 at the offices of GFW Inc., 200 East Main Street 8 floor, Fort Wayne. Learn from previous YMCA Workplace Wellness Award winners like Fort Wayne Metals, Star Financial Group and Weigand Construction on how you can support your employees to lead a healthier lifestyle. Studies have shown healthier employees are more productive, improve company-wide morale, have lower turn-over and absentee rates. A healthy workforce reduces overall healthcare costs. The panel will share programs that have been successful, including how the program contributes to overall health and well-being in the workplace and affects their bottom line.

Each year the YMCA and GFW encourage local businesses to address employee health and well-being. For the second year, the YMCA and Greater Fort Wayne Inc. will partner to raise awareness about the importance and benefit of incorporating an employee wellness plan in the workplace. Attendees will get helpful tips on starting a Workplace Wellness program and how to participate in the 2015 Workplace Wellness Assessment for the YMCA’s Workplace Wellness Awards this fall.

“Most companies do not have wellness experts to guide them in the development of a Workplace Wellness Program”, said Wendy Spitznagel, Director of Health Initiatives for the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne. ‘This panel will help small and medium size companies learn from other local companies and community leaders about the importance of healthy living and starting their own work place wellness initiatives.”
