Fatal Traffic Accident, Wawonaissa Trail and Bluffton Road

Fort Wayne police responded to the intersection of Wawonaissa Trail and Bluffton Road at approximately 2:50 p.m. this afternoon on the report of an injury accident involving a scooter and a sport utility vehicle.
Once on scene officers, firefighters and medics pronounced the scooter operator dead at the scene. Preliminary findings and witness accounts suggest that the scooter was heading south on Bluffton Road and at the intersection with Wawonaissa Trail a sport utility vehicle, which was facing north on Bluffton, turned left into the path of the scooter.
The driver of the SUV did not suffer any injuries in the crash and was cooperating fully with investigators. The victim was an adult male, his name, cause and manner of death will be released by the Allen County Coroners office. No charges have been filed.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Department, the Allen County Coroners office, and the Allen County Prosecutors office.
