News release from the City of Fort Wayne:
Spring River Level Adjustment
(May 6, 2015) – In order to safely allow for the installation of flashboards at the St. Joe Dam, the level of the St. Joseph River, north of the dam, will be lowered at midnight on Saturday May 9, 2015 to allow the dam’s spillway to dry for safe installation of the flashboards.
Weather permitting the installation will occur on Monday May 11, and river levels should return to normal by Thursday of next week.
City Utilities installs flashboards in the spring to raise the level of the river north of the dam and increase the amount of water held behind the dam. This ensures that Fort Wayne has an adequate supply of water during peak summer months.
