News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
House fire, 6920 Chadwick Drive
(May 3, 2015) – The Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to a reported house fire at 6920 Chadwick Dr. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coning from the back part of the house and garage. The first fire unit arrived in 3 minutes and made an aggressive interior attack which was difficult with heavy smoke and fire inside the structure. Crews searched finding that no one was home at the time of the fire. The fire was placed under control in 30 minutes with a lot of overhaul to be done. Do to the amount of overhaul to be done other crews were called in to assist. There was heavy fire damage to the back part of the house along with the garage along with heavy smoke through out and moderate water damage through out the house. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire and this fire remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene was Neighborhood Code, TRAA, FWPD, AEP. Red Cross was not needed at this time.
