Vehicle Crash Leaves One Person Critical and One Person in Serious Condition
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred on I-469 northbound near the 23.6 Mile Marker.
Details: At approximately 8:25 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2015, Allen County Officers were working a traffic crash that occurred when a brown Kia Optima lost control, struck the center median wall, and came to rest in the driving lane of I-469. Prior to the officers’ arrival a black Oldsmobile Alero had stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway. The two occupants got out to assist in pushing the Kia off the traveled portion of the roadway. As the officers were assessing the situation and gathering information, a red pickup truck traveling northbound at a high rate of speed struck the black Alero that was parked on the shoulder. The pickup flipped on its side before coming to rest against an interstate exit sign. One person was conscious and alert inside the pickup and advised officers that a second occupant had been ejected during the crash. Officers were able to locate the second occupant outside of the vehicle near the crash. Both occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center. The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
