Mad Ants Drop Game to Canton
(March 7, 2015) – The Mad Ants, sponsored by Lutheran Health Network, fell at home, Saturday, March 7th to the Canton Charge 97-94 at the Allen Co. War Memorial Coliseum.
The first half came without one sole possessor of the lead; with 10 lead changes and 10 ties in the first half alone, the fight for the halftime lead fell in the Mad Ants’ favor heading into the locker room up 57-55. Starting the game off with two immediate dunks, CJ Fair led the Mad Ants with 16 points the first half, while Gary Talton, Trey McKinney-Jones, Xavier Thames and coming off of a strong Friday night performance at Delaware, Matt Bouldin, all posted 7 apiece.
The Mad Ants and the Charge continued their battle late into the second half; however, in the end, the Charge were able to come out on top, despite being behind with under three minutes remaining in the game. A late three with only thirty seconds remaining from Canton’s Brandon Paul served as the dagger, pushing the Chargers to their Saturday night victory. Fair would lead the team with 21 points, while Talton would clock a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Thames followed with 12 of his own.
For the Charge, Stephen Holt led with 17 points, while teammate, Arinze Onuaku grabbed down 17 rebounds for his 16 points.
