News release from Fort Wayne Community Schools:
ISTEP+ Starts Monday for FWCS Students
(February 27, 2015) – Elementary and middle school students will begin this year’s first round of ISTEP+ testing Monday, March 2. Students in third through eighth grades will be tested on language arts and math in an open-ended format next week. Testing every students is required by the state, and testing must be completed by March 13. The second round of ISTEP+ begins April 27 when students will have online testing with multiple choice answers. Third-graders will also take the IREAD-3 exam March 16-18.
Throughout the testing weeks, parents can help their students by:
- Making sure their children eat – and eat right – at home.
- Making sure their children go to bed early and get enough sleep.
- Avoiding putting pressure on children about taking the test. They should be encouraged to do well but not made to feel anxious.
