News release from MKM architecture + design:
MKM architecture + design partner 1 of 14 to receive national award
(February 9, 2015) – MKM architecture + design (MKM) partner, Zachary Benedict, AIA, was recognized with a 2015 “Young Architects Award” by The American Institute of Architects (AIA). The award is given by the AIA to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career. The Young Architects Award Jury selected Benedict as one of only fourteen recipients for 2015 from across the nation. Recipients were named in the January 23, 2015 issue of AIArchitect (https://www.aia.org/practicing/awards/2015/young-architects/).
The Young Architects Award Jury was quoted saying, “Zach stands out for introducing the profession to emerging issues—explaining their relevance and considering solutions. His action-oriented approach is driving conversation within his community and beyond.”
At MKM, Benedict manages the firm’s community-health projects and research efforts, while designing numerous projects ranging from long-term care facilities to public libraries. With an extensive background in urban sociology and neighborhood revitalization, his work focuses on the future of the American Midwest and the socioeconomic benefits of intergenerational communities.
Benedict will be presented with the award at the AIA Convention 2015 in Atlanta.
