Kohl’s Department Stores to donate more than $58,000 to Parkview Foundation
Since 2000, Kohl’s Cares® has donated more than $1 million to Parkview child-friendly programming.(February 25, 2015) – Parkview Foundation is proud to announce a donation of more than $58,000 from Kohl’s Department Stores, to further the Kohl’s Kids 4 Safety program, which is aimed at helping parents better understand how to keep their children safe on the road.
The Kohl’s Kids 4 Safety program at Parkview focuses on educating parents and families about child car seat safety and other ways children should be protected while traveling. This year’s grant will continue to support car seat safety inspections, community events, access to experts who can answer child safety questions and online car seat safety updates and quizzes at www.parkview.com/KohlsKids.
“The Kohl’s Kids 4 Safety program demonstrates the continued commitment Parkview and Kohl’s Cares has for children in northeast Indiana,” said Lori Norton, director, Women’s and Children’s Services, Parkview Women’s and Children’s Hospital. “It is important that we are able to provide valuable information to parents that could potentially save the lives of their children.”
Since 2000, Kohl’s Cares has donated more than $1 million to Parkview for child-friendly programing, also earning Kohl’s Department Stores the Diamond Pillar of Parkview Foundation designation.
Prior to the current Kohl’s Kids 4 Safety program, proceeds from Kohl’s Cares also supported the Kohl’s Healthy Kids program which educated parents and families about healthy lifestyle choices.
Kohl’s commitment to Parkview Foundation is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl’s has raised more than $257 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares features the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 834,000 Associates have donated more than 2.7 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $79 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations.
